Well I have to admit, that I run the product under emulation, and parallels installs parallels-tools, which is of course not an MS product. It solved the problem. Unfortunately, there is no indication that the burned disk had errors or problems other then not installing. If I can't resolve this issue I have no choice but to completely wipe my computer and start again which will take all day long!
